An Assessment of Chemical Particulate Technology as Diverters for Refracturing Treatment

Abstract Diversion of treatment fluid is the major attribute of successful refracturing treatment. This paper provides a comprehensive review of near wellbore and far-field diversion application and the selection parameters of chemical particulate diverters during refracturing treatment. Furthermore, this paper highlights laboratory tests for the performance evaluation and monitoring techniques during the treatments. The case studies are presented to support the concept and to demonstrate recent developments, challenges and future scope of improvement. Significant insight into the diversion technology and the guidelines for its successful application are provided to help engineers to increase the effectiveness of refracturing treatment.
