Abstract Laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) mapping is a rapidly expanding field in the geosciences because of the wealth of spatial information it provides on the petrogenesis of igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks and ore mineral formation.
