Giant‐cell tumour involving the calvarial bones is extremely rare. This case of a young man with unilateral hearing loss and earache associated with a mass over the temporal region was accurately diagnosed pre‐operatively by fine needle aspiration cytology. Knowledge of the characteristic cytological features can help to distinguish it pre‐operatively from its radiological mimics.
