Abstract
The paper describes a two-layer model of substance transport in waterbodies, in which relatively deep regions exist together with large shallow-water regions. The model combines hydrodynamic and transport components. Equations with corresponding boundary conditions are given. The problem is solved using finite-difference methods on a uniform rectangular grid. Model examples of solid runoff transport from branches of the Don River to Taganrog Bay of the Sea of Azov are considered. The proposed approach can significantly reduce the number of unknowns when solving systems of linear algebraic equations.
