Strength and modal analysis of 5 MW semi-direct drive permanent magnet wind turbine shaft system based on modal theory

Abstract

To simplify the wind turbine model, we used SolidWorks and ANSYS software. Boundary conditions were selected to ensure safe and stable operation of the wind turbines. The deflection analysis of the rotor system showed that the maximum deflection of the shaft was 2.4% of the air gap, which met the design requirements. The modal analysis of the wind turbine demonstrated that resonance would not occur, because the natural frequency was not equal to the exciting frequency of the impeller. Our results could provide a reference for large-scale design and strength check of wind turbines.
