Dependence of the Critical Temperature of Cylindrical Superconductors on the Boundary Conditions

Abstract

The properties of long cylindrical superconductors with a diameter comparable with coherence length ξ have been investigated in the framework of the Ginzburg–Landau theory. The equations of the theory have been solved using the general boundary conditions for the order parameter. The use of such boundary conditions makes it possible to take into account the effect of the boundary of a cylinder on its superconducting properties. This is important for small-diameter cylinders, the properties of which significantly depend on the properties of their boundaries.
