FROM THE EDITOR‐IN‐CHIEF

Last May, Prof. Angel Rodriguez‐Vazquez the previous editor‐in‐chief of the journal decided to step‐down after a long period of continuous service to the journal and the scientific community of circuit theory and its applications. Since then, it has been my pleasure to assume the duties of the editor‐in‐chief of this journal hoping to continue the great work that he had started while swiftly moving forward to serve the community of this journal and the wider scientific community. I wish to sincerely thank Angel for his diligent and persistent efforts.

Readers of the journal may have already noticed that a number of new editors have been appointed in order to handle the review process of submissions across a wide spectrum of topics. The whole editorial team is committed to doing its best to ensure reaching a decision on each submitted manuscript in the shortest possible period of time while maintaining the integrity of the review process. I would like to welcome those new editors and wish them a successful journey. Meanwhile, the readers of the journal may have also noticed that accepted articles which have been published online under Early View are subsequently grouped into focus areas which are then published as regular issues in the journal. For example, the June issue of the journal was a focus issue on POWER ELECTRONICS AND RENEWABLE ENERGY, the July issue focused on CIRCUIT THEORY AND ANALOG ELECTRONICS, the August issue focused on DIGITAL CIRCUITS/SYSTEMS AND APPLICATIONS while the September issue dealt with INTER‐DISCIPLINARY APPLICATIONS OF CIRCUIT THEORY. This October issue is focused again on POWER ELECTRONIC CIRCUITS. We shall seek to continue this trend whenever possible aiming to serve the audience of these focus areas in a better way.

Three special issues are scheduled for publication in 2021. These issues are dedicated to (i) Smart Sensor Circuits and Systems, (ii) High‐Performance Power Converters for Renewable Energies and Electrical Vehicle Applications and (iii) Parallel Computing and Computer Vision: Hardware, Architectures and Applications. Each special issue is edited by its own guest editorial team. The journal also welcomes tutorials and review articles which offer an in‐depth survey of the state‐of‐the art in any topic relevant to the journal.
