Constant On/Off Time Pulse Train Controlled Buck Converter

For pulse train (PT) controlled switching converter operating in continuous conduction mode (CCM), a problem of low frequency oscillation is existed, which enlarges the output voltage ripple. In order to solve this issue, a constant on/off time pulse train (COOT‐PT) control technique with a buck converter is proposed, and the working principle is introduced in detail. Based on the variation of the output voltage during one control pulse, the pulse train, output voltage ripple and dynamic behaviors of the COOT‐PT controlled buck converter are studied. The experimental results verify the theoretical analysis and indicate that the COOT‐PT controlled buck converter eliminates low frequency oscillation and enjoys smaller output voltage ripple compared with PT control technique. © 2020 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
