Abstract

The study has been focused on the population composition dynamics and trophic relationships of Simocephalus vetulus (O.F. Müller, 1776) in the absence of the food stress of ichthyofauna in flow-through ecosystems in Patriarshie Prudy pond. The role of S. vetulus species in the plant-eating zooplankton, the suppression of blooming, and the preservation of high water transparency have been assessed. The largest daily consumption of edible phytoplankton biomass by zooplankton under flowage has been shown to be 102.96 mg/L in late August at maximal biomass and dominating S. vetulus (up to 99.8% of the biomass of plant-eating zooplankton).
