UAV relaying assisted transmission optimization with caching in vehicular networks

In vehicle-to-network (V2N) communication, it is a great challenge to remain the communication performance of vehicles at all times in case of the mobility of vehicles. This paper investigates a novel architecture of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted V2N communication, where UAV with caching serves as a carrier of flying base station to jointly communicate with vehicles. The optimization problem is to maximize the minimum rate among vehicles with the constraints of both energy consumption and caching of UAV by jointly optimizing the UAV-vehicle scheduling scheme and the flight trajectory of UAV. The problem with the non-convex and mixed-integer nature is decomposed into two sub-problems, which leads to an efficient iterative algorithm. Numerical results verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
