The U–Pb Age of Detrital Zircons from Paleozoic Sedimentary Sequences of the Southwestern Siberian Platform as Evidence of Paleoproterozoic and Early Paleozoic Orogenic Events

This work presents the results of the isotope dating of detrital zircons from sandstones of the Bratsk (O3), Kezhemskaya (S1), and Baeronovka (C1) formations of the sedimentary cover of the southwestern part of the Siberian Platform. It was established that Paleoproterozoic igneous and metamorphic complexes of the Siberian Platform basement with ages of 2.00–1.85 Ga were the dominant source of the clastic material. The Central Asian Orogenic Belt, namely, rock complexes with age of 490–450 Ma, was a second important source of the clastic material. Furthermore, it was noted that the age spectra obtained for detrital zircons from rocks of the Siberian Platform sedimentary cover reflect two global orogenic events: the Paleoproterozoic one, which is responsible for the formation of the most ancient cratons, including the Siberian one, and the Early Paleozoic one, marking the beginning of the development of one of the largest orogenic structures of the world (Central Asian Orogenic Belt).
