For over 140 years, GFF has been Scandinavia’s leading scientific journal within the Earth Sciences, publishing papers within every branch of our science. In recent years, GFF has increased its circulation greatly through the publishing agreement with Taylor & Francis and this is reflected in the increased number of article download (over 24 000 times in 2018) and the increased impact factor of the journal, which is now 1,814. Volume 139 of GFF was published in 2017 and contained 30 papers, of which 27 were original research articles. The Geological Society of Sweden, in cooperation with Taylor & Francis, premieres the best articles published in the journal for every year. For volume 139 (published in 2017), four articles have been selected and the first authors of these are awarded with a cash prize of 5000 SEK, in addition to the honour. All the awarded papers will also be made available, freely accessible on the website of GFF until the end of 2019. The awarded persons and articles are:
