Functionalization of Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes by an Ion Beam to Increase the Interfacial Adhesion in Tin Oxide Composites

Abstract

Scanning electron microscopy and X-ray spectroscopy have been used to study the effect of processing of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) with an argon ion beam on the structure of SnOx/MWCNT composites formed by magnetron sputtering. It has been shown that the use of ion processing increases the interfacial adhesion and allows forming composites with a uniform distribution of tin oxide on the surface of carbon nanotubes in the form of continuous layers with a uniform structure.
