Solvothermal reactions of Co(NO 3 ) 2 ·6H 2 O or Ni(NO 3 ) 2 ·3H 2 O with 4,4′-di(1H-benzo[d]imidazol-1-yl)biphenyl (bimbb) and 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid (H 2 pdc) afford two one-dimensional coordination polymers with the chemical formulas [Co(bimbb) 2 (pdc)](H 2 O) 2 (1) and [Ni(bimbb) 2 (pdc)](H 2 O) 2 (2). Complexes 1 and 2 are characterized by the elemental analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The RPMI-8226 human multiple myeloma cell proliferation is determined by the CCK-8 assay after treatment with complexes 1 and 2. The morphological changes of treated RPMI-8226 are observed with the Hoechst staining method, and the apoptotic related protein levels are determined by western blot after treatment with complexes 1 and 2 .
