The Four-Pole Transfer Matrices of an Elastic Porous Layer

Abstract

Relations are proposed for the transfer matrices of linear four-poles that relate the pressure and normal velocity components at free and/or impervious boundaries of a planar elastic porous layer. The dependences were obtained within the irrotational model framework, which assumes a negligible effect of shear stresses on the transfer of wave disturbances across the layer. The possibility of using the results for layers of nonrigid porous materials in a wide range of sound-wave angles of incidence is shown.
