Are quasicrystals really so rare in the Universe?

The discovery of icosahedrite, the first natural quasicrystal, and the subsequent discovery of two other types of quasicrystals challenged the conventional wisdom. Icosahedrite was found to be formed naturally in CV3 chondrites that comprised the primordial material of our Solar System. So, it is not impossible to form it outside the laboratory. Since it has only been reported in one CV3 chondrite to date, one cannot draw precise quantitative conclusions.
