Chemical Research in Toxicology invites you to contribute a manuscript to a special issue on neurotoxicology that is scheduled to be published in spring 2021. For better publicity, papers accepted for this special issue will also be combined with a parallel special issue on the same subject with ACS Chemical Neuroscience to give a virtual special issue. We welcome manuscripts dealing with studies about the effects of toxic substances, including environmental chemicals, pharmaceuticals, natural products, and nanomaterials, on the brain and nervous system of humans and laboratory animals. Studies involving the use of cell lines and model organisms will also be considered. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: (1) mechanisms through which environmental exposure modulates the development of nerve systems and/or elicits neurodegenerative diseases; (2) biotransformation of neurotoxic chemicals; and (3) biomarkers for assessing the exposure and effects of neurotoxic chemicals. All manuscript types, encompassing Reviews, Perspectives, Articles, Rapid Reports, Chemical Profiles, and ToxWatch, will be considered. The deadline for manuscript submission for this special issue is December 14, 2020. Views expressed in this editorial are those of the authors and not necessarily the views of the ACS.
