The evolution processes of the defects in Ni, Ni-Cr and Ni-Mo alloys under 400 keV Ne ion irradiation at different temperatures were investigated. At room temperature, the defect sizes are between 2 and 4 nm and defect densities are in the range of 1.24 × 1015–1.39 × 1015 m−2. With increasing irradiation temperature, the defect sizes become larger, and the defect densities decrease. Moreover, under irradiation at high temperature, Ni-Mo and Ni-Cr alloys show the higher defect densities and smaller defect sizes than Ni. These are ascribed to the pinning effects of solid solution elements on the ion irradiation-induced defects in the nickel-based alloys.
