Analysis of Wear Parameters for AA6063-TiC In-Situ Composites Using Taguchi Technique

The wear behavior of AA6063 matrix composite reinforced with different weight percentages of TiC particles by the in-situ reaction route was studied. Hardness and wear rate of the composite samples were analyzed by using hardness tester and pin on disc wear tester. The dry sliding wear behavior of the composites was investigated based on Taguchi L16 orthogonal array experimental design. The significance of reinforcement, load and sliding distance on wear rate. Load and sliding velocity were identified as the highly significant parameters on the wear rate using ANOVA analysis. Worn surfaces of the surface of the composites were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and all the surface morphology images are reported.
