After more than a quarter of a century of service, Marjorie Wilson retired as Executive Editor of Journal of Petrology in early 2020. It is an honour and privilege for me to step up to the position of Acting Executive Editor from June 2020 until a permanent replacement is found. The editorial board thanks Marjorie for her hard work and deep commitment of steering Journal of Petrology from the late 20th far into the 21st century, mastering a range of technical and other changes in the landscape of scientific publishing while maintaining the scientific prominence of this journal in the field of igneous and metamorphic petrology.
