MoSSe-based passively modulated erbium doped fiber laser

A passively modulated erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) using a Molybdenum Sulfide Selenide (MoSSe)-based saturable absorber (SA) is proposed and demonstrated. The modulation depth and saturation intensity of the MoSSe sample are measured to be 25.7% and 0.003 MW cm −2 respectively. The output pulses are obtained at a central wavelength of 1559.5 nm, with a minimum pulse width of 1.3 µ s and maximum pulse energy of 44.3 nJ as well as a maximum repetition rate of 92.6 kHz. This would be the first demonstration of a passively modulated EDFL using an MoSSe-based SA to the best knowledge of the authors.
