Coalition Game-Based Strategy for Resource Allocation and Transmit Power Control in D2D Communication

Resource allocation and co-channel interference are the two major technical challenges in the implementation of device-to-device communication technology. We propose an innovative resource allocation strategy along with dynamic power control for D2D communication. The resource allocation problem is formulated as a single utility function for multiple D2D pairs and cellular users in underlaying cellular networks. The proposed strategy based on overlapping coalition formation game allows a D2D pair to reuse multiple resource blocks. It aims to maximize the system sum rate maintaining minimal adverse impact of the interference on the overall system performance. Numerical results obtained through computer simulation show that the proposed strategy significantly improves the system sum rate along with reduced power consumption.
