Abstract Age at first lambing and lambing interval are two important reproductive traits affecting the longevity of sheep as well as the production yield in the lifetime. Thus, to identify the genomic regions associated with these traits, a genome-wide association study (GWAS) was performed in Baluchi sheep by using the Illumina Ovine SNP50 K chip. The GWAS analysis was conducted in the fixed linear model by PLINK software. The results of the present study detected, for the first time, two novel SNPs on chromosomes 10 and 15 significantly associated with age at first lambing and lambing interval, respectively. These SNPs were located within ovine genes including FAM155A and SYT13, known to be involved in the immune responses. Our findings may provide new perspectives to identify genomic regions underlying reproductive traits in sheep.
