Angle-independent and -dependent optical binding of a one-dimensional photonic hypercrystal

We theoretically study the light induced optical binding of one-dimensional photonic crystal composed of hyperbolic metamaterial and dielectric-photonic hypercrystal. It is shown that light can induce self-organization of hyperbolic slabs into one same stable photonic crystal at different angles of incidence-angle independent optical binding. In addition, self-organization of photonic hypercrystals that depend on the incident angles are also investigated. We demonstrate that the lower band edge of the new assembled PHCs are always consistent with the incident frequency.
