Absolute frequency measurement of rubidium5S−6Ptransitions

We report on measurements of the rubidium transition frequencies for rubidium isotopes with an absolute uncertainty of for the transition and better than for the transition, achieved by saturated absorption spectroscopy. From the results we derive the hyperfine splitting with an accuracy of and , respectively. This is an improvement of two orders of magnitude for the transition to the current state of the art. We also verify the literature values for the transition, the isotope shifts, as well as the magnetic dipole constants and the electric quadrupole constants.
