Twin photonic hooks generated from two coherent plane waves illumination of a micro-cylinder

In recently, twin photonic nanojets (t-PNJs) generated from two coherent illuminations of a single micro-cylinder is theoretically and experimentally investigated. Herein, we investigate a single micro-cylinder illuminated by two coherent plane waves utilizing finite element method. The shape profiles of the t-PNJs are related to the angles and the polarizations of the incident plane waves for a chosen cylinder. Twin photonic hooks (t-PHs) can be generated at an appropriate incident angles. The curvature degrees of t-PHs can be modulated by phase shift of the two incident waves. Our work present a new approach to generate t-PHs. The t-PHs will provide novel applications in nanolithography and optical trapping.
