This paper proposes a novel cooperative strategy to intercept a highly maneuvering target using inferior missiles. Taking the target's maneuverability bounds as prior knowledge, a reachability analysis is performed to analyze the engagement geometry. Nonlinear kinematics are adopted in the reachability analysis and a modified necessary condition for zero miss distance is obtained. To transform the quantity advantage of the missiles into an engagement advantage, the cooperative strategy aims to establish advantageous engagement conditions by covering the target's reachable set with the union of the missiles' reachable sets. Moreover, the missile formation can be extended to achieve the required interception performance. Numerical simulations demonstrate the improved performance of the proposed strategy compared with traditional guidance laws against targets in various maneuvering modes.
