Our cover features an H&E stained tissue section from the lung of mice after repeated intranasal administration of live Aspergillus fumigatus conidia. The left part of the picture shows germinated conidia and several inflammatory cell types including eosinophils and large activated macrophages. This model of allergic lung inflammation is used in Dietschmann et al. (pp. 1044–1056), where the authors demonstrate a critical role of Th2 cell‐derived IL‐4/IL‐13 for eosinophilia and inflammation of the lung. The authors further show that eosinophil‐deficient ΔdblGata mice contain fewer Th2 cells in the lung parenchyma but mount a similar inflammatory response in the lung.
