Influence of dissipative properties on the magnetoelectric coefficient in bilayer films

Abstract The theory of the direct magnetoelectric effect in a bilayer ferromagnetic—piezoelectric structure is presented with the exact consideration for electric fields, inhomogeneous over the thickness of the piezoelectric layer. The solution of the motion equations for a piezoelectric and ferromagnetic medium made it possible to numerically-analytically calculate the dependence of the natural frequency of mechanical oscillations on structure parameters and frequency dependence of the magnetoelectric coupling coefficient. Consideration of the structure dissipative properties makes it possible to estimate the maximum value of the magnetoelectric coupling coefficient.
