Analyzing the uncertainties between reanalysis meteorological data and ground measured meteorological data

The measurement data from an implemented device together with some reanalysis meteorological data were statistically analyzed via the evaluation of the mean, standard deviation (SD), mean bias error (MBE), root mean square error (RMSE), correlation coefficient (λ), normal distribution function (NDF), empirical cumulative distribution function (ECDF), scatter plot (SP), diurnal cycles (DC) and annual cycles (AC) using R. These evaluations show the uncertainties and errors associated with the meteorological data used for this study. From the NDF, ECDF, SP, DC, and AC, it was observed that there were underestimations/overestimations among the meteorological variables considered showing that there was some level of discrepancies between the measured meteorological data and satellite reanalysis data. These results obtained hitherto from this study will be of assistance in striking the much-anticipated balance between ground measured meteorological data and satellite (reanalysis) meteorological data that are readily available for meteorological studies.
