We are thankful for the attention dedicated by Gutierrez to our recently published work (Perosa et al., 2020). In a letter to the editor the author refers to our paper, in which we presented how the double supply of the hippocampus by both the posterior cerebral artery (PCA) and anterior choroidal artery (AChA) was positively associated with hippocampal volume and better results in some cognitive domains (e.g. verbal memory). Gutierrez (2020) discusses the importance of accounting for the heterogeneity of the circle of Willis when considering these effects.
