David Lawrence Atherton, Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Emeritus Professor of Physics and Computer Engineering at Queen’s University, passed away peacefully on 18 March 2020 at his home, Silverstone Farm on Sydenham Lake, north of Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He is survived by Joanna (nee Banham) his beloved wife and companion of 58 years, his two much loved daughters, Tamsin and Heather, and his brothers, Richard in Derbyshire, England, and Charles in Athens, Greece. He will be missed as the cherished grandfather of Caden, Serena, and Jude.
