Interesting structure‐activity relationships were identified on the base of systematic binding studies with acyclic carbohydrate receptors. In particular, this study allowed the evaluation of the influence of the ring size of cycloalkyl units, which are able to participate in van der Waals interactions with the carbohydrate substrate, on the receptor efficiency.
