The 9th International Seminar on Fire and Explosion Hazards (ISFEH9) was held from 21 to April 26, 2019 in St. Petersburg, Russia. In this editorial note, we introduce the virtual special issue of the Fire Safety Journal with the extended and modified versions of the selected papers presented at the Seminar. We also take this opportunity to highlight statistics of the conference and to express thanks to the authors, delegates, track chairs, reviewers, editors, organizers, sponsors, and all those who contributed to the success of the Seminar.
