A colorimetric and fluorescent probe based on diarylethene for dual recognition of Cu2+ and CO32- and its application

A high selectivity diarylethene sensor for the detection of Cu2+ and CO32− was designed and synthesized. It not only has good photochromic properties, but also recognizes Cu2+ and CO32− by colorimetric and fluorescent. When adding Cu2+, the diarylethene derivative exhibited an obvious fluorescence quenching, and the absorption spectrum also changed, the solution color was changed from the colorless to yellow. When adding CO32−, the reaction aroused a distinct change in the absorption spectrum and with the color change from colorless to yellow. In addition, the sensor can be used to detect Cu2+ and CO32− by the test strips, and it’s very simple and convenient. The probe can also effectively detect Cu2+ and CO32- in water samples. Besides, the probe can enter HeLa cells and recognize Cu2+ in the cell.
