The ability to make well-informed decisions about protective or adaptive strategies for sea level rise (SLR) is crucial for coastal communities. Reservoirs construction, as an important human activity around the world, has boom with increased economies and electricity demand. To updated its impacts on the SLR, we proposed an integrated model by considering different parameters relating to working volume of reservoir, seepage and siltation. The updated reservoir databases were built and used to estimate the potential impacts of reservoir construction on SLR from 1950 to 2038. The results show that reservoir construction has prevented an average increase of 16.2% per year in the last 68 years compared with the monitored SLR. In addition, reservoir construction will still continue to compensate 19.1% of the SLR in the future. This paper highlighted the consideration of the impacts of global, national, regional reservoir construction on the SLR.
