Abstract The effects of pore size and position on the local stress are characterized by a parameter P dH . This parameter is then introduced into the elastic fatigue damage model to equivalently reflect the influence of pore. The proposed fatigue damage model is numerically implemented to predict fatigue lives of the joints with different pores, and the results agree well with the experimental data. The sensitivity analyses of fatigue life to the pore parameters are investigated for most common pores in practice. An approximate linear relationship is also obtained between the logarithm of the pore indictor parameter P dH and the predicted fatigue life.
