All of us at ACS Chemical Neuroscience are thrilled to welcome Professor Hsin-Yi Lai as our newest Associate Editor (AE) and continued expansion of the Journal’s footprint in China. Dr. Lai is a Professor in the Institute of Interdisciplinary Neuroscience and Technology at Zhejiang University (https://person.zju.edu.cn/en/lai), where her focus is on the application of cutting-edge neuroengineering approaches to probe brain function and to treat neurological disease. By way of background, Dr. Lai earned her Ph.D. in Electrical Control Engineering from the National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Neurology at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where she also served as the head of the Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) imaging group. While at UNC, Dr. Lai developed a novel, simultaneous DBS-fMRI protocol to explore functional connectivity. Then, Dr. Lai served as a senior postdoctoral fellow in Chang Gung University and Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (Taiwan), focused on the somatosensory system in human and nonhuman primates. Her current research interest centers on the development of neuroprobe microchips, to understand the neural code related to brain–machine interfaces (BMI) and dissecting neurocircuits employing both DBS and focused ultrasound. Having Dr. Lai as an AE will further increase the Journal’s focus on biomechanical systems, neuroengineering, neural imaging (especially DBS), and novel methods of neuromodulation, such as focused ultrasound to open the blood-brain-barrier (BBB). Moreover, she is excited to receive manuscripts in these key areas of neuroscience! Please join me in welcoming Professor Hsin-Yi Lai to ACS Chemical Neuroscience! Along with AEs Jacob Hooker (Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard University), Michael Kassiou (University of Sydney), and Catherine Abbott (The University of Edinburgh), ACS Chemical Neuroscience offers global presence and strong leadership across all domains of neuroscience research. As we look forward to announcing our highest Impact Factor to date in the coming months, I encourage you to submit your best work (Viewpoints, Reviews, Perspectives, Letters, and Articles) to ACS Chemical Neuroscience. Views expressed in this editorial are those of the author and not necessarily the views of the ACS. This article has not yet been cited by other publications.
