An iridium‐catalyzed oxidative [4+2] annulation reaction of 2‐arylindoles using quinone derivatives as C2 synthons has been developed. From this reaction, a series of diversely substituted indolo[1,2‐f ]phenanthridine derivatives were synthesized in an efficient manner. Moreover, diverse transformations of the phenanthridine derivatives thus obtained have also been performed, which showcase the synthetic potential of the present protocol.
