Abstract A review is given of advances that have been made in and trends of development of adhesives, such as glues, sealants, compounds, and optical-purpose coatings, without which progress in optical instrumentation, optoelectronics, laser optics, and other modern fields cannot be achieved. The most promising trends in the preparation of optical adhesives enabling a wide range of processes and performance requirements for glues and optical-purpose products are noted.
