Effect of natural oil content and viscosity on the adhesion of nitrile rubber to polyester fabric

Abstract Four types of natural oils varied in the viscosity were added to a nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) loaded with three bonding systems (HRH) consisting of hexamethylenetetramine (HMT), resorcinol and hydrated silica. Rubber dough was spread on the untreated polyester fabric sheet. The peel strength was used to measure the adhesion strength between the fabric and the rubber. The rubber-proofed fabric was subjected to ozone irradiation at different doses (250, 500 and 1000 ppb). The dielectric constant, volume resistivity and water permeability of the various rubber-coated fabrics were investigated. The addition of the natural oils improved the physical and mechanical properties of the rubber-coated fabric. The suggested mechanism of oil between NBR and polyester fabric was studied.
