Begonia mengdongensis, a new species in Begonia sect. Reichenheimia (Begoniaceae) from Malipo County (SE Yunnan, China), is described and fully illustrated. Begonia mengdongensis is similar to B. fimbristipula and B. poilanei. The new species can be distinguished from other similar species by its leaf margin being dentate or crenate, flowers white, male flower pedicel puberulous, and placentae undivided. A key to Begonia sect. Reichenheimia species in China is provided. Comparison with similar species and pollen morphology are also provided. Moreover, we propose that this new species should be listed as Critically Endangered.
