Pre-Transition Phenomena During Phase Transition in Potassium Carbonate

Molecular relaxation processes in potassium carbonate (K 2 CO 3 ) are investigated using Raman-scattering spectroscopy. It is found that the first-order phase transition is temperature-expanded, and the pre-transition phenomena are observed in crystalline K 2 CO 3 . The paper gives theoretical grounds for pre-transition phenomena using the theoretical model of tunneling.
