Research on the long-term characteristics of ocean conditions is becoming increasingly necessary as the impact of climate change is becoming conspicuous. This study measured the variabilities of wind and wave by simulating the wind speeds and significant wave heights from 1988 to 2017 over the Taiwan Strait. The validation shows that the simulated results are in agreement with the observations. From analysis of the annual, seasonal, and monthly distributions of wind speeds and significant wave heights, the maximum wind speed and significant wave height appear in January, with the maximum wind speed reaching 12 m/s and maximum significant wave height reaching 2.8 m. Additionally, the long-term trends of the wind speeds and significant wave heights are studied, and, during the 30 years, the wind and wave variation trends are found to increase significantly. Furthermore, the linear trends of the wind speeds and significant wave heights at three points are analyzed, which present the temporal variations of wind and wave over the Taiwan Strait.
