Superconductivity in single crystalline LuPd 2 Si 2 probed by heat capacity measurements

Single-crystalline samples of LuPd 2 Si 2 were studied by means of low-temperature specific heat measurements performed in a magnetic field oriented along two main crystallographic directions. The compound was found to be superconducting below 0.6 K, in agreement with previous reports. Detailed analysis of the phase-transition anomaly revealed that LuPd 2 Si 2 is a BCS-like superconductor with anisotropic properties and a possible two-gap character.
