A microstrip patch antenna loaded with water metamaterial radome structures for performance enhancement is presented in this manuscript. Two multilayer radome structures are used for performance enhancement and protection of conventional microstrip patch antenna. First multilayer radome structure consists of three layers loaded with thin wire metamaterial structure and the other three-layered structure is loaded with thin circular wire metamaterial structure. The microstrip patch antenna loaded with metamaterial radome is compared with the conventional microstrip patch antenna and the antenna loaded with simple multilayer radome. The results of the proposed design are compared in the form of reflection coefficient, gain and bandwidth. The enhancement in gain, reflection coefficient and bandwidth are achieved by loading the conventional multilayer radome with different metamaterial structures.
