In recent years, chlorinated polyfluoroalkyl ether sulfonic acid (Cl-PFESA, trade name: F-53B), one of the alternatives to perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), has been widely detected in environmental matrices and organisms in China. However, sufficient information regarding its presence in seafood is not available. Therefore, we investigated the levels of Cl-PFESAs and legacy per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) in 276 seafood samples collected from markets in Beijing and assessed the human exposure risks of Cl-PFESAs through seafood intake.
