Lead Mixed Oxyhalides Satisfying All Fundamental Requirements for High‐Performance Mid‐Infrared Nonlinear Optical Materials

The lead mixed oxyhalides Pb13O6Cl4Br10, Pb13O6Cl7Br7, and Pb13O6Cl9Br5, with both a suitable band gap (Eg) and NLO coefficient (dij), satisfy all the fundamental requirements to be high‐performance mid‐IR nonlinear optical (NLO) materials. As reported by K. M. Ok and co‐workers in their Research Article (DOI: 10.1002/anie.202002291), millimeter‐sized crystals of Pb13O6Cl4Br10 and Pb13O6Cl7Br7, and centimeter‐sized crystals of Pb13O6Cl9Br5 can be grown by the flux method in an open system, which is a huge advantage compared to the growth of all the non‐oxide IR NLO crystals.
