We believe the U.S. DOE SSL Program’s position on CCT and its influence regarding melatonin suppression is unintentionally misstated in this article. The article reports that a recommendation for selecting outdoor lighting of CCT < 3000 K to reduce possible melatonin suppression was supported by measurements of commercially available products by the SSL Program. In fact, the SSL Program has gone to great lengths to demonstrate the overall limitations of using CCT as a control measure for spectral content and related downstream effects, both in the cited FAQ and in numerous presentations and other materials.
