Effects of Different Coherency Models on Utility Tunnel through Shaking Table Test

ABSTRACT Since defining ground motions is crucial for reliable analysis of structural responses, it is vital to select coherency model when conducting seismic analyses of extended structures under nonuniform excitation. In the present paper, a series of shaking table tests are conducted to study the effect of coherency models on seismic performances of a utility tunnel. The test results show that there are significant differences in seismic performances of the utility tunnel for using different coherency models. Structural strain and acceleration responses are relative to the decaying of coherency models at low frequency and high frequency, respectively.
